Moscow, June 8, Interfax – Head of the Synodal Information Department Vladimir Legoyda accepts that PR is necessary for the Church, but urges to interpret it correctly.
"If we say that PR is just professional coverage of Church work then certainly such work is needed, and it's already underway," Legoyda told Interfax-Religion.
He stressed that "today the Church is under information pressure and its initiators seldom observe the rules and seldom reject "dirty" technologies."
Legoyda believes that to oppose them, "professional and effective work of experts is needed or otherwise the Church will sink in flows of lie and dirt."
"However if saying PR we mean "promotion" of some image, then I don't think it's appropriate to refer this term to the Church," the Moscow Patriarchate official believes.
He urged to remember that the Church is "the bearer of the Truth and the Truth, Christ, doesn't need image."
"Moreover, rules of Christian sermon differ from, for instance, commercial ads," the interviewee of the agency said.

Head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church press service Vasily Anisimov earlier told that several years ago Athos Monks predicted that Yanukovich would win the election, but they had only said "at some point".
