§ 20. For our faith, brethren, is not of men nor by man, but by revelation of Jesus Christ, which the divine Apostles preached, the holy Ecumenical Councils confirmed, the greatest and wisest teachers of the world handed down in succession, and the shed blood of the holy martyrs ratified. Let us hold fast to the confession which we have received unadulterated from such men, turning away from every novelty as a suggestion of the devil. He that accepts a novelty reproaches with deficiency the preached Orthodox Faith. But that Faith has long ago been sealed in completeness, not to admit of diminution or increase, or any change whatever; and he who dares to do, or advise, or think of such a thing has already denied the faith of Christ, has already of his own accord been struck with an eternal anathema, for blaspheming the Holy Ghost as not having spoken fully in the Scriptures and through the Ecumenical Councils. This fearful anathema, brethren and sons beloved in Christ, we do not pronounce today, but our Savior first pronounced it (Matt. xii. 32): Whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. St. Paul pronounced the same anathema (Gal. i. 6): I marvel that ye are so soon removed from Him that called you into the grace of Christ, unto another Gospel: which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the Gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you, than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. This same anathema the Seven Ecumenical Councils and the whole choir of God-serving fathers pronounced. All, therefore, innovating, either by heresy or schism, have voluntarily clothed themselves, according to the Psalm (cix. 18), ("with a curse as with a garment,") whether they be Popes, or Patriarchs, or Clergy, or Laity; nay, if any one, though an angel from heaven, preach any other Gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Thus our wise fathers, obedient to the soul-saving words of St. Paul, were established firm and steadfast in the faith handed down unbrokenly to them, and preserved it unchanged and uncontaminate in the midst of so many heresies, and have delivered it to us pure and undefiled, as it came pure from the mouth of the first servants of the Word. Не в силе Бог, а в правде!

В поддержку инициативы Крестного хода Десницы - по Украине и Польше …

Начну я свою речь со слов Св. благоверного князя и непобедимого в Боге полководца Александра Ярославича Невского: Не в силе Бог, а в правде.

Эти слова удивительным образом перекликаются со словами Самого Спасителя, склонившего голову под руку Св. Иоанна Крестителя: «...ибо так надлежит нам исполнить всякую правду» (Мф. 3: 15).

Вспоминая историю русского казачества, могу сказать, что нам всегда хватало силы там, где было мужество. А мужество есть добродетель правды.

И перед неприступным Измаилом (в 1790 г.) у атамана Матвея Ивановича Платова хватило мудрости и боевой решимости принять ответственность за штурм и, в результате, победить! А мудрость - добродетель правды.

И если приходилось и приходится нам, как народу христианскому, для защиты Веры и Отечества брать в руки меч, т.е. склоняться под руку ветхой заповеди, то только для того, чтобы исполнить всякую правду и защитить кровью своей святыню Родины.

Еще скажу: Победа только там, где сила подвига. А подвиг только там, где добродетель правды.

Вспомним же - на поле Куликовом - Божественное единение военной силы Дмитрия Донского, уповающего не на оружие, а на благословение, и благодати молитвы преподобного Сергия.

Поэтому так важно нам, да и людям лишь приходящим к вере, видеть в Церкви, особенно в лице её священнослужителей, светильник покаяния, пример истинно-христианской жизни. В мире многие знают или задумываются о Боге. Но одно дело ЗНАТЬ О БОГЕ. И совсем другое дело - ЗНАТЬ БОГА. А путь к Нему один, как атаман донских казаков, скажу, что этот путь - СЛУЖЕНИЕ через покаяние и исполнение заповедей во Христе.

Как необходимо сейчас стране нашей и всем народам, желающим обрести спасение - истинное покаяние.

Великой милостью и промыслом Божиим доныне сохранена в нетлении Десница Св. Иоанна Предтечи, лежавшая на голове Спасителя. И нам, погрязшим в беспросветной суете, сегодня нужно только одно: ОТКРЫТЬ ВСЕ ГРАНИЦЫ ДЛЯ ЭТОЙ ВЕЛИКОЙ СВЯТЫНИ! ОТКРЫТЬ ВСЕ ПУТИ ГОСПОДУ, и Он Сам Своею благодатью через верного служителя Своего откроет в душах людей сокровенный, единственно-спасительный, покаянный путь к Богу.

Обнови души наша Св. Предтече, ближний друже Христов, покаянием, яко вторым крещением, понеже обоея начальник еси. Крещением омывая прародительский грех, покаянием же очищая коегождо дело скверно.

И мы, русские, не в силу величия своего сего требуем, но в правде смирения перед Крестным подвигом Сербского народа и Косовской Славой просим оказать нам и всем народам милость, начав спасительное шествие Св. Десницы.

'Modern-day miracle' of John the Baptist's healing hand

It is the hand that baptised Jesus Christ, and now it is responsible for miracles in Russia, say Orthodox believers.

Russians are forming queues several miles long for a glimpse of what is claimed to be the right hand of John the Baptist, which has been returned for the first time to this country since the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917.

One pensioner, Vladimir Mastukov, insisted that he regained the use of his legs after kissing the display case containing the hand.

For five years he has walked on crutches but he cast these aside and walked unaided out of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, where the hand is now on display, he said.

"I felt such lightness in all my body," he said. "Thank you, God."

"The relic is the right hand of St John the Baptist. The hand that actually baptised our Lord Jesus Christ," said Father Zacchaeus, the Orthodox Church in America's representative in Moscow.

"You see that the hand is intact, you see the skin, although it's dried and darkened, the skin is also intact. The only thing missing are two fingers."

The relic has had a curious history, and it is unclear quite how it came to be taken from his body after burial. Its owners have been Orthodox Christians, Catholics and Muslims - who regard John as a Prophet - according to Metropolitan Amphilochy, the Orthodox leader of Montenegro, where the hand is now kept.

The Crusade Order, to which a Turkish sultan had passed it, kept it for a long time on the Greek Island of Rhodes. At the end of the 18th century, it was turned over by the Maltese Order to Russian Emperor Paul I at the end of the 18th century - supposedly saving his empire from Napoleon's advances.

Hand smuggled to Estonia

When the Romanovs were overthrown in 1917, the hand was smuggled to Estonia, Germany and finally Denmark where it was held by the last tsar's mother Empress Maria Fyodorovna.

She in turn presented the hand to the head of the Russian Orthodox synod abroad, and he passed it onto to Yugoslav King Alexander in a sign of gratitude for help to Russian refugees.

The hand is usually kept at a monastery in the city of Cetin but until July will be displayed in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The head of the Montenegran church said the hand would not be permanently returned to Russia, its home for 120 years before the revolution.

"Such great relics belong to the whole world, and it is not so important in what country they are kept," he said.

The queues to see the hand are also testimony to the remarkable shift that has seen religious worship return to this former Communist state.

Those waiting have no doubt about its authenticity. "I am convinced of it," said a 78 year old woman who had travelled five times zones to pray at the hand.
The relic's return is part of a Kremlin-inspired bid to restore traditional Orthodox faith to Russia.

Money for the hand's return came from a religious foundation headed by Vladimir Yakunin, boss of Russia's vast state railways network, a possible successor to President Vladimir Putin in 2008.
