Russia’s Patriarch holds Maundy Thursday service
The patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill held the Maundy Thursday service in Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Savior on April 1st. According to the Gospels, Maundy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles, the washing of the feet ritual by Jesus, the betrayal of Judas and the arrest of Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane. “Readiness to serve other people like Jesus Christ did is an essential human quality” the Patriarch said. All churches across Russia are holding annual services on Maundy Thursday. On April 4th, Christians will mark Easter.
